The following photos were sent to me on July 16, 2001 by Bob Bowen. Bob was a photographer in Vietnam.

In April of 1967, a few weeks after I returned to the states,  Sgt. Bob Bowen (USMC) arrived at Camp Kaiser,
base camp of the 1st. Marine Scout Dog Platoon, in DaNang.

Bob was there to do a feature story with accompanying photos for Leatherneck Magazine.

What the following photos show is what a Viet Cong or NVA hiding in a tunnel would see if we sent in
a Marine Scout Dog.

Bob Climbed  into the tunnel (just far enough back so the leash would keep the dog about three feet
from him and his camera) and had the handler send in  the dog into the tunnel.

Bob personally checked the handlers leash to make sure it was strong enough.

Bob thinks the the name of the canine was Gary and his handler was LCpl. Beezy.
